INTERNATIONAL

SPEAKER & AUTHOR

Alex is completely at home at the front of the room. She is a dynamic, inspirational and experienced keynote presenter and emcee. She wins her audience’s hearts with warmth, humour and uplifting visual storytelling as she conveys her passion for combining philanthropy with photography to support wildlife conservation and animal rescue.

Perhaps even more inspiring is her story of how she followed her true calling. After 19 years as a police officer and airport security counter-terrorism inspector, Alex used the power of images to turn her lifetime love of animals into a successful full-time photography career. Her commitment, focus and resilience have made her an admirable leader and award-winning advocate for those ready to be inspired to make a difference, and to literally change themselves and the world.

Alex is the author of six books and one co-authored book commissioned by global publishing houses. She is currently in the stable of her favourite book publishing company, market leaders Harper Collins Australia, and also works with their overseas counterparts HarperOne, Harper360, and Harper Collins USA. Her books are available all over the world and have been translated into several languages.

animal welfare advocate &

national hero

Alex is a passionate champion of and voice for animal rescue and wildlife conservation. She uses her photography as a powerful medium through which to communicate, connect and educate by providing pro bono photography services, fundraising projects, prizes, gift vouchers and sponsorships to state, national and international animal charities, wildlife sanctuaries, and rescue shelters.

She knows that the right image, viewed by the right person, at the right time, can lead to more adoptions, greater awareness for a cause, or increased donations. Over the past fifteen years her philanthropy has assisted hundreds of different organisations.

Alex’s deep, long term commitment to philanthropy and her advocacy for animal rescue and wildlife conservation were distinguished with a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Australia Day Honours List 2019 from the Council for the Order of Australia for her service to the community through charitable organisations.

ADVENTUROUS

tour leader

Alex loves nothing more than pulling on her well-trodden boots, filling her bag to the brim with camera gear, and heading off to lead a tour with like-minded animal people. She holds the esteemed title of being the first female professional photography tour leader for global travel company World Expeditions and her sell-out wildlife tours have taken her to some of the most extraordinary wildlife locations on Earth, including Antarctica, Argentina, Laos, Christmas Island, Cocos Keeling Islands, Cambodia, India, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, the Galapagos Islands, Africa and into the Amazon Basin in Ecuador.

Inspired by the joy of discovery, Alex has ticked off all seven continents on her travels. She is passionate about leading ecologically sound adventures, where any animal interactions must be ethical and not exploitative. She operates under a ‘take only photos, leave only footprints’ motto.

Alex has now launched her ‘Down to Earth Photo Breaks with Alex’ – Western Australia based day trips and short getaways focused on nature and wildlife.

Her profile is not just known to other photographers – she is also recognised by a wider audience and often gets stopped in the street by kind animal people keen to pass on their regards.

In early 2022, Alex will be starring in television show ‘Adventure All Stars’, an ultimate road trip where TV viewers get to experience incredible locations through the eyes of an engaging and socially conscious cast. ‘Adventure All Stars’ is broadcast in 25 countries to over 100 million homes, making the series one of Australia’s most watched international TV shows.

Prior to filming, all cast members raise funds for a nominated charitable cause, and Alex has chosen to support Greener Pastures Sanctuary.
